For LLL project, the highlight of the year 2007 was the migration from SuSE to Kubuntu. The following institutions have already been upgraded with the new distribution: - Transfair - Scouts.org.lu - Lycée Technique Michel Lucius - The primary school in Troisvierges - "Eng Nei Schaff" in Esch-sur-Alzette In addition to these, many people use LLL privately. The next on the list will be LGL and Infoladen in Esch-sur-Alzette. Kubuntu features a more user friendly upgrade procedure, and is free from all commercial interests, unlike SuSE, who depends on Novell, and thus indirectly on Microsoft. Moreover, the new build procedure allows us to have a 64 bit CD in addition to the usual 32 bit CD. Thus, this new modern hardware, which is being used more and more (Transfair, LGL, Eng nei Schaff), can be used to its full potential. The new distribution also allows us to more easily integrate Macintosh's into our network, thanks to OpenLDAP. For the new school-year, an optimization in the class change procedure is planned: more user-friendly reports, and automatic move of leaving students into a class for that purpose
